Bringing together more than 500 caravan participants from Senegal, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Togo, the visit paid tribute to the millions of victims of slavery while reaffirming a shared commitment to social justice, human dignity, and solidarity among peoples.

The memorial visit marks an important step in the WSF caravan before the delegation travels to Benin on 2 August. The country will host the World Social Forum 2026 in Cotonou from 4 to 8 August, where thousands of civil society actors, youth leaders, activists, and community organizations from around the world will come together to exchange ideas and promote inclusive and sustainable solutions to today’s global challenges.

END.
